Dhanush next movie 'Sottavazhakutty'

It is official at last. Director Sargunam of 'Kalavani' and 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' fame has confirmed that his next film would be with Dhanush and it has been titled 'Sottavazhakutty'.

Explaining the meaning of the title, he said, "It is a very common word used in the villages of Thanjavur district, which is my native. Sottavazhakutty means a smart, handsome and intelligent young man."

Stating that Dhanush was very much happy with the script and the title, Sargunam adds, "Dhanush will fit very well into the role. In fact, the protagonist roles in Kalavani and Vaagai Sooda Vaa too were tailor made for him. But we were not able to join hands then."

He said 'Sottavazhakutty' will be a mix of comedy and romance. "We are currently finalizing rest of the members of the cast and crew. The shooting will start very soon," concludes Sargunam.

BILLA 2 rating and review

STAR RATING : (*) (*) (* ) (  ) (  )  TWO.FIVE OUT OF FIVE

A sequel but a prequel. Billa 2, directed by Chakri Toleti (of Unnaipol Oruvan-fame) traces the journey of David Billa and his transformation into a dreaded gangster. It is more style over substance attempting to camouflage cliches.

Billa 2 has a wafer-thin storyline. But Chakri Toleti has intentionally kept the pace swift enough, leaving no time for the viewer to notice loose ends.

Ajith plays a bravado who is forced to turn a warlord. Being an action flick all through, the director seems to have taken some cinematic liberties and ensured that gun-toting men run around with vigour, baying for blood, spraying bullets all around. It is bad versus bad in a bid to assert their supremacy.

The film begins in a refugee camp ar Rameshwaram where David Billa (Ajith) comes seeking aylum from the neighbouring island nation. Billa gets acquainted with rough life in the refugee camp and raises his voice against those who treat them in an unfair manner.

This leads Billa to incur the wrath of police officials and he is forced to go on an assignment planned with an aim of finishing him off. But a brawny Billa overcomes all odds and completes the task given to him with ease. He comes across a few influential men in the society invoved in mafia. There begins a new journey in his life. He comes across Abbasi (Sudhanshu Pandey), a dreaded gangster in Goa. David Billa's brave acts help Abbasi come out of a tangle. He then begins to like Billa. He gives him new assignments and with them come more risks for Billa. But he completes them in style.

There is a twist when Billa embarks on a trip to Georgia to meet an international don Dmitri (Vidyuth Jamwal) on Abbasi's behalf. But soon a misunderstanding between Abbasi and Billa crops up and they part ways. Now arrives Billa the Don after he bumps off Abbasi. But fresh troubles begin here. Dmitri crosses swords with him. A bloody battle for supremacy then ensues.

Ajith carries the movie on his shoulders literally. A suit-clad Ajith sports a stylish look as the don. Thanks to his screen presence, he manages to pull a few rabits out of the hat. Though he is predomiantly a baddie on a killing spree, yet it has to be said he adorable.

Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah have little to do in the film. Sadly none of them have any song sequence with Ajith. Vidyuth Jamwal's pleasant looks adds credibility to the character. He is at ease before the camera though language is a problem for the Bollywod actor. Sudhanshu Pandey tries hard to look menacing and he does partially succeed.

Adding strength to Billa 2 besides Ajith are cinematographer R D Rajasekar and dialogue writers Era Murugan and Mohammad Zafar. The former captures the locales in Goa and Georgia in its pristine beauty. Several punchlines by Ajith (penned by Era Murugan) is a treat to Ajith fans. Yuvan Shankar's music disappoints big time.

Produced by Sunir Khetarpal, George Pius and Suresh Balajee, Billa 2 is strictly for Ajith fans who want their favourite star to be seen as an invincible person on the screen always. But one would have preferred to see Ajith as brain than brawny hero.
Verdict: Action, amazing & Ajith

Rating: 4.5/10 - Above Average

Billa 2 records in reservation.. next to endhiran ! bollywood fans welcome billa2

Ajith Kumar may not have the same status as Rajinikanth but his film ‘Billa 2’ is all set to give Rajini’s ‘Endhiran’ a competition when it comes to grabbing the most number of screens in the foreign markets. So far the distributors of ‘Billa 2’ have ensured the release of the film in more than 60 theaters in USA. This is next to only one Tamil film and that is ‘Enthiran’ which was released in 85 screens.

‘Enthiran’ was also released in Hindi with the name ‘Robot’, and it was accepted well too. In last some years, Bollywood has shown a good inclination towards the remakes of Southern blockbusters. From ‘Wanted’ to ‘Rowdy Rathore’, the audiences have given thumbs up to these remakes. The Hindi dubbing of the hit films of South Indian languages get good viewership on TV too. More or less, the filmmakers have become successful in developing a taste for these films among the Bollywood fans.

Films are still seen as a mode of entertainment only in India and ‘Billa 2’ is expected to be high on this. Plus, it’s a prequel to 2007 film ‘Billa’, a genre that is not very well known to the Hindi film viewers. This style is adopted from the western films and the art of telling a story backward will educate the audiences of the Hindi belt.

Vidyut Jamwal was appreciated in ‘Force’ and he is going to make his presence felt in ‘Billa 2’ now, so his fans have another reason to watch the film.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea if one watches ‘Billa 2’ just for Ajith Kumar. At least, the Bollywood fans will get a chance to understand the reason behind his huge popularity.

BILLA2 leaked scenes and dialogues with Ajith Helicopter stunt !

Thala’s dialogues in the film Billa 2, as heard in the trailers, are already a craze. We find out if their impact is lost in translation

Thala Ajith’s Billa 2 will hit the screens next Friday (July 13), but its dialogues have already made an impact. They have become so popular that the producers are going to release an audio track with only the dialogues. The best part? Unlike the dialogue promos of Don 2, these lines are actually a part of the film. When we heard that, we were left wondering if they would have the same impact in those non-Tamil speaking regions where the film is going to be released with English subtitles. That’s why we did our own literal translation of Ajith’s best lines and we must admit, they still pack a punch, even though they may mean…we are really not sure what!

Dai! Yen vazhkaila, oru naalum, oru nimishamum, yenoru nodiyum naana sadukardu da!

Hey! In my life, one day even, one minute even, one nanosecond I have myself crushed, hey!

Yenoodu nanban aa irukarturku yend tagadhi oon vandan, aana yederi aa irukarturku tagadi venu
